In Spring, Texas, a husband-and-wife team is reshaping the moving industry with experience, care, and a community-centered mission.
When Stephen and Kayla Howard discovered they were expecting their fourth child, they realized their current work situation could no longer support a growing family. With Stephen’s more than a decade of experience in the moving industry, from crew member to operations manager, the couple decided to start their own company: Howard’s Moving Co., officially founded in 2026.
“We knew that with Stephen’s background and management training, we had the tools to make this work,” Kayla said. “But starting from scratch in an industry with so many established companies was daunting.”
From Facebook Post to Full Schedule
The Howards’ biggest early challenge was building trust and visibility. To stand out, they crafted a simple but heartfelt introduction post on Facebook, sharing their story and mission. The response was immediate and overwhelming: within the first eight days of opening, they completed ten jobs.
“People wanted to support a local family with experience who genuinely cared,” Kayla said. “It was the push we needed to get our business rolling.”

“We want our business to do more than just earn a living,” Kayla said. “We want to make a difference for families and children in our community.”
Lessons and Vision
Starting a business comes with its challenges. One key lesson for the Howards has been learning to set boundaries on pricing, even when it means turning away potential jobs. “You can’t always make everyone happy,” Stephen said. “But maintaining fairness and sustainability ensures we can keep helping people long-term.”
Looking ahead, the couple plans to expand their fleet, hire additional staff, and eventually open more locations to serve a wider range of Texas communities. Their long-term vision is not only growth but also continuing to offer affordable, dependable, and personalized moving services.
