In Spring, Texas, a family-run party rental business is redefining celebrations. all while creating purpose and opportunity for their special-needs daughter.

On a sunny afternoon in Spring, Texas, the air might soon fill with laughter, cheers, and the excited squeals of children racing through a Nerf battle or lining up for a snow cone. At the center of it all is Monster Mania LLC, a family-owned photobooth and party rental company founded in 2025 by Chad, Shawanda, and Jaedyn Cox.

For the Cox family, this is more than a business. It’s a mission: to provide fun and memorable experiences for the community while giving their daughter Jaedyn meaningful involvement in a family enterprise.

“Our goal was to start something small that Jaedyn could easily assist with and eventually run herself,” said Shawanda Cox. “We wanted her to have a purpose, something she could be proud of and eventually lead.”

From a Photobooth to Full-On Fun

Monster Mania began modestly, with a single photobooth. But as the family recognized the demand for unique event entertainment, their offerings quickly expanded. Today, the company provides a broad menu of rental options including Nerf Wars, Soaker Wars, Hot Wheels party packages, karaoke, giant Tetris, giant Legos, giant Jenga, giant yard dice, corn hole, mini golf, and classic concessions like cotton candy, popcorn, and snow cones.

They also offer event essentials such as tents, tables, chairs, red and black carpets, and gold and silver stanchions. The business model is flexible: customers can opt for self-hosted rentals or attended rentals, where the Cox family handles delivery, setup, hosting, and teardown.

“We’re constantly adding new items that fit our style,” said Chad Cox. “The goal is to offer activities that make any event memorable, no matter the age or type of celebration.”

A Family-Driven Venture

The Cox family brings a diverse background to the business. Chad has nearly 20 years in IT and has owned his own company for 15 years. Shawanda spent two decades as a cosmetology instructor before retiring in 2020. Jaedyn, a high school junior, is deeply involved, learning skills that will allow her to someday manage the business independently.

Starting Monster Mania was a calculated leap of faith. While their vision was clear, spreading awareness in a competitive events market has been slow. “Getting the word out is always a challenge,” Shawanda said.

Community Connections

Despite being a young business, Monster Mania is already making local connections. They have partnered with the Klein ISD BEST Club, an extracurricular program that fosters friendships between general education students and the special-needs population, providing photobooths for fall hayrides, variety shows, and upcoming spring dances.

“Our work with the BEST Club has been one of the most rewarding parts of the business,” said Chad. “It’s a reminder that what we’re doing matters beyond just entertainment.”

Looking Ahead

The family has plans to expand offerings with additional games and rental items and is eager to become a staple for summer events in their service areas, which include Spring, Klein, The Woodlands, Conroe, Tomball, Cypress, Humble, and Atascocita. Monster Mania aims to serve birthdays, graduations, family reunions, corporate events, and church socials, essentially any celebration that calls for fun and engagement.

“Our end goal is to provide Jaedyn with a livelihood that gives her confidence, independence, and fulfillment,” Shawanda said. “Every event we book brings us closer to that goal.”

Invitation to Celebrate

For those planning events, Monster Mania offers more than just rentals; they provide experiences designed to bring people together and make memories. Currently, they are hosting a Senior Celebration Photobooth Package Contest for graduates, an example of their commitment to the community.

“We want people to visit our website, book their events, and see what we can bring to their parties,” said Chad. “We’re ready to make every celebration exciting, fun, and memorable.”

Whether it’s a self-hosted game day in the backyard or a fully staffed event, Monster Mania LLC is redefining what it means to celebrate, one photobooth, Nerf blaster, and snow cone at a time.
